Clare and the Reasons - “That’s All

This is the best Genesis cover I’ve ever heard (in my humble opinion, at least). Brooklyn based chamber-pop extraordinaire Clare and the Reasons mix light, airy girlie vocals with fun instrumentation which include brass, strings, and other things to hit. This track, off the recently released “Arrow”, is the follow up to the acclaimed debut EP, “The Movie”.

Additionally, they have an amazing cover of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” on their Myspace. Certainly worth checking out along with “Rodi” and “Pluto.”

Weekend update

This is going to be a fun weekend. Today, Tiff and I are getting mani/pedis, w00t! Yay girlyness :) Then there is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs show tonight! Followed by my friend and fellow Tumblr, Jay, playing a show with his band Venice Sunlight at 10pm at Parkside Lounge (you should come).

Tomorrow Jer and I are going on a walking tour of the LES then heading to Long Island for my friend’s engagement party. On Sunday my friend Andrew is helping us move some furniture from Long Island to new sweet BK apartment. Monday is my last day to be lazy, and Tuesday I start work. So weird to say that, btw.

As many of you might know, I have a thing for subway history. Today, while waiting for the A/C train at 14th Street, an old R1 model ‘A’ train comes through the station on the uptown track. (300 R1 trains were built between 1930-1931 and were retired by 1970). I kinda stood there with my mouth open thinking “That’s so cool! What is it doing here?” Guess I wont know for now, but in the meantime, here are some photos I could find on this model.
